- A suffix which converts a verb into a noun resulting from such verb, e.g. vide ‘to see’ > vidatu ‘sight’ (contrast with vidacu ‘vision, seeing’). -atu is a singular, often tangible noun, while -acu is an intangible verbal noun. In chemistry, this suffix is used to create derivatives of specified elements or compounds.
