From Middle Valthungian preðra, from Old Valthungian preðra, from Griutungi *perþra, (Cf. Gothic 𐍀𐌰𐌹𐍂𐌸𐍂𐌰 (pairþra).), from Proto-Germanic *perþrō. A compound of pera ‘pear’ and -ðra ‘tree’.
