This is a rough guideline to pricing as of December 2022. These are rough guidelines only: if you want to lock in a price, please ask me for a quote. Small discounts may be available to students and starving artists, solely at my discretion.
Conlang “Packages”
I base my package pricing on the guidelines set by the Language Creation Society (LCS), though I have some slightly different tiers and options available.

Services à la Carte
Phonology
- $250 ‒ A phonology is included with every conlang package, but if you simply want a phonology with no other frills, we can do that too!
Names
- $100 per 25, or $7 each ‒ Sometimes you just need a list of character names!
Grammar
- A grammar is a document that tells you how your language is structured and what you need to know to be able to use it.
Basic Grammar
- $250 ‒ A basic grammar is a short guide (maximum 1 page) to using your conlang. This is automatically included with Sketches and Basic Conlangs.
Advanced Grammar
- $1,000 ‒ An advanced grammar is a more thorough guide (usually about 5‒10 pages) for using your conlang. This is included in the price of Intermediate and Advanced Conlangs.
Primer
- A primer is a little bit more user-friendly than a grammar, designed for students of the language to learn and become proficient in it.
Basic Primer
- $500 ‒ A basic primer is a short set of lessons and helpful tips for using your conlang. This includes sample questions and tests and a variety of practice methods.
Advanced Primer
- $1,500 ‒ An advanced primer is a more thorough lesson plan to help you learn your new conlang. This includes sample questions and tests and a variety of practice methods.
Samples
- $25 per sample ‒ Sometimes you don't need an entire grammar or primer; you just need a couple of extra hints to wrap your brain around a particular concept. Additional samples can be added to your conlang package to clear up any outstanding questions.
Translations
- $25 + 25¢ per word ‒ Now that you have your new conlang in hand, you may want specific translations of words, phrases, or dialogue. Translations start with a $25 flat rate, plus 25¢ per (English) word. In the event that a needed word does not appear in the lexicon, additional word creation fees also apply.
Audio/Video Recording of Translations
- $25 + $5 per slide ‒ Each slide consists of a line or clause of text (around 5‒10 words, depending on the language) with in-language text, translation, and phonetic transcription (if required). I will read through each slide once at a normal pace, once very slowly, and again at a normal pace, so that the pronunciation is clear. The completed video may be delivered as a file, shared privately on YouTube, or various other means.
Poetry
- $50 + 50¢/$1 per word - Poetry is translated for $50 plus 50¢ per word; $1 per word if it has to rhyme and/or fit certain metric schemas. (May be subject to higher fees for languages with more complex phonology.) In the event that a needed word does not appear in the lexicon, additional word creation fees also apply.
Additional Words
- $5 per word ‒ Additional words are $5. Some authors like to store up needed words and give me a large list that I may choose to do for a discounted rate. Compounds of existing words are $3 to generate the correct derivation and add them to the master lexicon.
Writing System
- $500 per script + $25 for each character over 30 characters
Fonts
- $1,000 font + $50 for each character over 30 characters ‒ This does not include cursive fonts.
Wiki
Public Wiki
- $1,000 ‒ This will give you a public wiki space on lingufacture.com. I will upload the data from your language, including lexical items in a “Wiktionary”-style format. You can use the space to add any other world-building information that might be useful for you or your readers/subscribers/listeners/fans. Anyone can see it; only you and I can edit it. For example: Drikva Yakke.
Private Wiki
- $1,500 ‒ This will give you a private wiki space on lingufacture.com. Not ready to go public yet? Same as above, but you will need a login to access the site. Only you and I will be able to see or edit it. Once you are ready to make your work public, it can be converted to a public wiki (as above ― you and I will still be the only editors) with the flip of a switch.
