Adjective (Determiner)
spa
- same, the same, self-same, identical
- The distinction between spa and stema is two-fold: First and most prominently, spa is a determiner which precedes the noun it modifies, while stema is a standard adjective which follows the noun. However, spa is used when referring to the self-same, identical noun, while stema refers to a noun that is a similar noun that is an identical copy. For example, compare the following:
- Lasu se spa libru na ke-kwasu ma nonu le gane da mu. ‘That is the same book my grandfather gave me.’ (“...See? Here is the stain where I spilled ink on it.”)
- Lasu se libru stema na ke-kwasu ma nonu le gane da mu. ‘That is the same book my grandfather gave me.’ (“…except mine has an ink stain on the cover.”)
